July Design Team Challenge - Home Decor

The Gourmet Rubber Stamp's DT challenge this month was to get inspiration from your own home decor. This was super challenging for me...(a) I just moved and (b) I'm not super decorative in the first place. I have a home filled with a lot of furniture that was free. I have a chair I love that my grandmother (really she is Steve's but I have claimed her now as mine) recovered for me that is awesome. However, the card I made was not. My next idea came from my new house. The original owner passed away and we bought the house. One of them had a hobby of creating stained glass. Next to the front door is this:

I used the set Au Naturale. There are some lovely images in this set! The butterfly just made me think of stained glass. I stamped the butterfly with StazOn on to acetate and then colored the other side with Copics. I die cut it and then cut the card with the next bigger size. I punched holes and used embroidery floss (but only 3 strands) and tied it on and then covered the back with the knot with a glue dot and used a hole punch to make a small white circle to cover the glue dot. I stamped the leaf on green cardstock with StazOn and same with the sentiment.

Here is a close up to see the acetate.

Thanks for looking and don't forget to stop by the rest of the DT. I have seen some of the wonderful inspiration and cards they have come up with! You have to see!!

I see your true colors....

Such a fun sentiment and I love the color wheel! These stamps are from one of Gourmet Rubber Stamps recently released Appetizer called True Colors. I made this card with CASual Fridays challenge in mind to use a black card base (CFC62). I had fun using black as my main empty space and then a lot of color from the wheel. I used Koh-i-noor pencils to color the color wheel. Thanks for stopping by!

Good Times and Staying Cool

It was so cold yesterday and now it is hot. I love this fun pinwheel matched with the Stay Cool sentiment from Gourmet Rubber Stamps July Diner's Kit. I used CPS Sketch 274 for some inspiration.
Stamps are all Gourmet Rubber Stamps and ink is Staz-On Jet Black. The punch outs and paper are by Colorbok and the button is by Crate Paper. TFL!

Pigtails with Headband

Love this hairstyle on this curly headed mop. This headband is cotton and super wide and it just makes me think of a house mom from the 50's...maybe I'm off on the decade. But I just find it so cute on her. Plus swimsuit on...always with the swimsuit and this one. And don't miss the stick on earrings:)

Independence

Playing along with CAS-ual Friday's CFC59. The challenge was to have two circles on your card. Obviously my card is a circle and then the brad is my other circle. I used Gourmet Rubber Stamps Appetizer set Happy Independence. The brad is by Basic Grey stitched brads, Making Memory ribbon, Fired Brick Distress ink for the stars and a Marvy Marker for the sentiment. Plus a little Antique Linen Distress Ink around the circle. TFL!

Half Moon Bay

We went to Lemos Farm in Half Moon Bay a couple weekends ago. The girls had a blast. It was a lovely day and we had lots of fun riding on ponies, a hay ride, a "train" ride, bouncing in a bounce house, and feeding the goats (which Nina was afraid of).

Gourmet Rubber Stamps July Release!! Woo hoo!

The Diner's Kit this month is called Old Fashioned Fun and boy is it! Some great images!
The weekend before making this card, we had gone to a friend's wedding who is the lead singer of a country ban. The bridesmaids were wearing black cowgirl boots and there were horseshoes wrapped with pearls and wire everywhere. It was lovely! I wore my cowgirl boots too! So I knew I wanted to make this card similar...fancy but still country. This was my second go round on the background and I was much happier with it. I knew I wanted some metal so I added some Making Memories copper eyelet-like things going down the side. Some distress ink (Walnut Stain around edges and Fired Brick for the swirls). Staz-on Timber Brown for the sentiment and boots. I used some Tim Holtz Mini Mask Floret for the background and sprayed with a mix of Perfect Pearls Sunflower Sparkle and Smooch Spray Candle Glow to get the color and shimmer I wanted. The red behind the banner is a velvet paper which adds some texture, but you can't tell with the picture. Anyways! Thanks for stopping by and some of you reading my super long paragraph!

Go get some more inspiration from the other GRS Ladies!
