Good Times and Staying Cool

It was so cold yesterday and now it is hot. I love this fun pinwheel matched with the Stay Cool sentiment from Gourmet Rubber Stamps July Diner's Kit. I used CPS Sketch 274 for some inspiration.
Stamps are all Gourmet Rubber Stamps and ink is Staz-On Jet Black. The punch outs and paper are by Colorbok and the button is by Crate Paper. TFL!

Independence

Playing along with CAS-ual Friday's CFC59. The challenge was to have two circles on your card. Obviously my card is a circle and then the brad is my other circle. I used Gourmet Rubber Stamps Appetizer set Happy Independence. The brad is by Basic Grey stitched brads, Making Memory ribbon, Fired Brick Distress ink for the stars and a Marvy Marker for the sentiment. Plus a little Antique Linen Distress Ink around the circle. TFL!

Gourmet Rubber Stamps July Release!! Woo hoo!

The Diner's Kit this month is called Old Fashioned Fun and boy is it! Some great images!
The weekend before making this card, we had gone to a friend's wedding who is the lead singer of a country ban. The bridesmaids were wearing black cowgirl boots and there were horseshoes wrapped with pearls and wire everywhere. It was lovely! I wore my cowgirl boots too! So I knew I wanted to make this card similar...fancy but still country. This was my second go round on the background and I was much happier with it. I knew I wanted some metal so I added some Making Memories copper eyelet-like things going down the side. Some distress ink (Walnut Stain around edges and Fired Brick for the swirls). Staz-on Timber Brown for the sentiment and boots. I used some Tim Holtz Mini Mask Floret for the background and sprayed with a mix of Perfect Pearls Sunflower Sparkle and Smooch Spray Candle Glow to get the color and shimmer I wanted. The red behind the banner is a velvet paper which adds some texture, but you can't tell with the picture. Anyways! Thanks for stopping by and some of you reading my super long paragraph!

Go get some more inspiration from the other GRS Ladies!

Apple Cake in a Jar

I used Gourmet Rubber Stamp's June Diner's Kit to create this tag. I used the border from the seed packet stamp and stamped the "fill with" then masked it and stamped the jar. I baked apple cake in the jar and delivered these little goodies to some friends.  I used some pink washi tape and a scrape of ribbon stapled on with a wooden button accent by Crate Paper. The paper flower is by Recollections Mulberry Paper Flowers.

The apple cake recipe is adapted from allrecipes Apple Coffee Cake.
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup apple juice
  • 2 large apples or 3,4 small - peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350. Mix ingredients. Spray jars with non-stick cooking spray and fill half way. I used pint size jars, so about 1 cup of batter. I placed my jars in a 10 x 14 pan with sides. Bake for 25-30 minutes. Pull out screw on lids and as they cool the lids will seal.

Happiness and Luck - DT Challenge

Our challenge this month was to use a stamp in a way other than it was meant for. I took the swirly heart from February's Diner Kit and made it a four leaf clover. I took a sentiment from March's Diner Kit and used only part of it. I have been wanting to make a card with a diecut bottom on the base. I like how it turned out with the clover. I added some green ribbon for the stem that I used little glue dots to keep down.  Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to check out all the other amazing cards by the DT for inspiration on using your stamps in NEW ways!

Graduation Tassle

I've got a June's Diner Kit card to show you today! I used three stamps with the graduation theme on the outside. Apparently I forgot to take a picture of the inside, but I used the "Congratulations" stamp on it. I decided to add a little tassle to the brad. I don't know why, but I think it is so funny. It makes me smile :) I'm excited for today. I have some fun things planned. Hope you have a great one too!

May GRS DT Challenge

The challenge for the GRS DT this month was to do a masculine card. I had yet to play with the new Appetizer set Daddy-O. So I inked it up and came up with this.

I used a texture cardstock for the ties, to have them look more like material. I love buying ties for my Dad or for my hubby. I think ties are a wonderful gift :) So go check out the other manly cards from the DT:
