Memorial day weekend @ Felton, CA

Saturday of Memorial Day weekend we went to Felton, CA which is in the Santa Cruz mountains. They have a steam train that takes you to the boardwalk in Santa Cruz. We had a lot of fun riding on the train and the at the boardwalk. We went on the carousel at the boardwalk. We had some yummy deep fried artichoke hearts and then went back to Felton on the train. Very fun!!

This picture of Rebecca just makes me smile!

Aptos Weekend

A couple of weekends ago we went to our friends' beach house. Here we are at the beach.

It is hard to tell in this picture, but if you make it bigger you can kind of see. There was this huge amount of birds flying north. It went on and on for almost 10 minutes! Tons of birds just flying together.

Daddy and RJ

Here's a pictures from last month at the beach. For Father's Day I made Steve this mini book of pictures of just him and RJ. I love how it turned out!

I stitched all the pages together and I used circles and silver accents.

I love the Beach!!

#10 is the Beach. I love the beach and yesterday was a beautiful day and we went to Baker Beach by the Golden Gate Bridge. I love the sand and the sun. I especially love warm water. This is one of the things lacking here in the San Francisco area. There is no such thing as warm water here.

Before going to the beach we went on a little train ride up in the Berkeley hills at Tilden Park. It was so much fun!! It is a real steam train.

.
This is the view from the train. It was amazing! Blow it up and you can see the Golden Gate and the Bay Bridge.

Aptos, CA

We went to our friends beach house again (in case you don't remember the old post) on Friday night we drove down there. To get there you have to go on Highway 17 which is a winding two lane highway. It was rainy and a power line was apparently covering a lane. It was so SLOW!! Rebecca started crying and I had to pee. And the crazy thing about this "highway" is that you exit right into a neighborhood, so I could pee in lots of places, but I didn't know any of the people. Anyways...Saturday we went down to the beach at 11ish and Rebecca wouldn't take a nap before then.

Steve wanted me to point out that he has a shirt on even though we are at the beach.

After being at the beach, we went to Santa Cruz. We went to the pier and saw a bunch of sea lions. Daddy did RJ's hair before we went to Santa Cruz.

Such a cutie!

Then yesterday, Rebecca was wanting to play on the computer so badly, so dad got out my old laptop for her to play with.

Such a nice seat.

Conference Weekend

Steve didn't want to stay in the house sitting all weekend long, so Saturday we....

WENT TO THE BEACH!

It was such a gorgeous day to go, and at the beach, Rebecca ate rocks.

And yes, Rebecca is fully clothed at the beach. It was still a little cool in the morning, but it warmed up quick and she got down to just a diaper. There were rocks in her pants, shirt and diaper, as well as the mouth.

On Sunday, we had our friends, Whitney and Dan, over. For the afternoon Conference we had fondue!! Rebecca thought it was quite tasty.

It was cheesy fondue that we dipped ham and bread in. We also had fruit ~ HUGE grapes, mango, peach, and raspberries ~ and veggies and dip. Yum! And for you Bebe, Rebecca is wearing her Little Pumpkin shirt and the socks (though you can't see them).
Oh and Friday, we went into San Francisco in the afternoon and watched the Blue Angels who were here for Fleet Week. Sadly we didn't bring the camera, so there are no pictures of that. Rebecca would watch the planes and then she would watch all the people walking around. They were so LOUD and it didn't even seem to bother RJ for the most part.

Labor Day

Friday, Steve decided to take off work, because orginally we were going to go down to our friends place in Santa Cruz, but they ended up having family only. So instead we went to the beach out by Half Moon Bay. It was a BEAUTIFULLY day. There was a little bit of fog in the morning but then it burned off and was gorgeous. There was a little breeze which kept it cool. The water is still and always will be freezing, but that's okay. So here is a picture of my sandy toes. I loved the red nail polish sticking out from underneath.

Then we have some Rebecca and Daddy pictures as they stood out next to the waves. It was a nice beach and wasn't very crowded (which is always good).
Then on Saturday we went to the cabin and for dinner we ate at La Villa's, the local mexican restaurant. Rebecca was loving the guacamole. She ate more of it today as well.

The Ocean

Matt came last week and he sent me some pictures yesterday. Also, for some reason the sound is not working on those videos...I'm working on that (slowly, but surely). So while Matt was here we went to Carmel, CA where this picture is taken and our little family was standing on the beach while Matt took the picture and right after the snap of the camera the wave that is just at our feet came and crashed up on us. It got my shorts wet and Steve shorts wet, but little shorty being held didn't get wet, lucky goose.

The water looks like it was just barely at our feet. How crazy is that?! We also went to Monterey on the way down to Carmel and here are some smiley baby pictures while we were on the pier at Monterey.

USC or Longhorns?!

Rebecca grabbed Dad's hat the other day and put it on her head. So cute! Especially with the "I love Daddy" bib on. The only problem is that it is a USC hat! USC! So I'm making sure to put up a picture of her in the longhorn's onesie.

We went to Aptos this weekend. Aptos is about 7mi. south of Santa Cruz. Our friends have a beach house there. We went to the beach on Saturday and Rebecca got to eat lots and lots of sand (sadly we didn't have our camera so no pic). She would play with the sand then grab a big handful and shove it in her mouth. Then drool it out while playing with more sand then grab a big handful...and so on. Then she rubbed her eyes, so she had sand all over her face and in her ears and nose. Plus she had been crawling in it so it was all down her front. So we took her out in to the ocean. Cold Cold Ocean! Then we put her on the sand again so mommy could could try to skim board (i think thats what it is called). You throw this light weight board across the sand as the wave is receeding and then jump on it and ride it for about 10ft. if you're good. I ate it. Right on my BEHIND (luckily no pictures of that!). After trying that out, Rebecca had gotten more sand all over her. So we took her to the showers to rinse off. She started to shiver. So daddy wrapped her up in a blanket and she stayed and cuddled with him for 20 min. He loved it! She is not much of a cuddler now that she's a mover and a shaker.

In Aptos, we played games and hung out with our friends. It was three couples including us. We are the only one with a baby but the other couples are both pregnant. One due in a few weeks, the other in a few months. Steve and I went for a walk with Rebecca on Sunday morning before everyone else got up. We went down to the beach for the walk. There is this pier that heads out to a sunken ship. So we went out to check it out. There are people fishing all along the pier. While we were walking back one of them had caught something so we stopped to see what he was reeling in. It was a SHARK! It was about 3 1/2 feet long. He walked all the way over to the shore pulling the shark so that it was on the shore (but he is actually on the pier which is like 20 ft. above the shore). His friend ran down to grab the shark and unhook the line. They took the shark over to his car. So Steve, Rebecca and I walk over to see the shark up close and ask if he'll let us touch it. It feels very leathery...it was sooo cool! We watched him smack it with a tire iron to kill it and then cut it from the gills to the front to bleed it out. Steve got a couple of pictures on his cell phone. I'll see if I can get them onto the computer.

This is the view from the back yard of the beach house. We are on a hill, actually a cliff if you look over the edge of that railing, and there are houses down below that are actually on the beach. But you have such an amazing view from up here and none of the traffic if you actually lived on the beach. That is Rebecca and I sitting on the grass and Danny (one of the friends) sitting in the lawn chair. We sat outside and talked and played games and grilled hot dogs over the fire pit (and of course s'mores). The sounds of the waves crashing was so delightful. We slept with the door open to the outside so we could hear it all night.

Happy Birthday Steven!

For Steven's birthday we went to Limantour Beach. It was a gorgeous day! I set up a little tent for RJ to keep her out of the sun while Steve walked around the beach and I laid out reading a book to Rebecca. There was this guy who was flying a kite in front of us that used two strings with a huge tail on it. Rebecca liked watching the kite. She did really well until right before we left she started crying. She did get just a tad bit of sun on her cheeks and head. The drive to the beach was beautiful too. We went across the Golden Gate Bridge and up Highway 1 along the coast. After hanging out at the beach we went to hang out with Steve's family and ate the creme brulee which turned out wonderfully.
